    Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1809 x-64 KB4495667 Fails


    In Windows Update, when attempting to update to Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1809 x-64 KB4495667, it fails every time, while displaying Error 0x80070005. I am also receiving an Iolo System Mechanic message showing the following infection: "W32/MebootDll!Generic" stating the program blocked the infection. Is this a false positive displayed by Iolo System Mechanic or a valid infection?

    Hi Vijay, thank you for your quick reply.

    As for step 1, I mentioned in the title that my troubleshooter is not starting at all.

    Nonetheless, I ran successfully all the commands listed in step 2 and restarted my machine, but when I tried to run Windows Update it failed again, returning a different error for the Cumulative Update:

    2019-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4480116)

    Anyone else having problems getting the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) installed? This update has been failing for me & doing a failed to update after downloading & reboot, then rebooting & removing the update.

    Hello everyone,

    Since the 2018-12 Cumulative Update, my copy of Windows 10 Home fails to install even basic updates such as printer drivers, and furthermore the Troubleshooter fails to start with an error code 0x800706BA.

    Every time I try to update I receive the following error codes:

    2019-01 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2 for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 (KB4481031)

    I have tried numerous fixes suggested in the forums, which mostly involved restarting some service, to no avail.

    What do you suggest I try? Should I download a copy of Windows 10, make a bootable iso and repair the install?
