I'm logging in with a Microsoft ID, not sure if it matters? If those of you that stay on PIN are using a local account that might explain it, sort of? I have a dedicated thread on this issue here, Login method keeps getting switched from PIN to Password.

  2. I use a PIN on my laptop but its running the consumer version. There is no login method option on its lock screen. On my desktop it auto logs in with password. It's also still on the consumer release.

Cumulative Update KB3176927 for Windows 10 Insider Build 14393.5

I'm logging in to my Microsoft account with a PIN, but it hasn't switched to password with the cumulative updates. I think it happened once early in rs1 builds, but not since.

Edge hung for me after 14393 install, wouldn't close, had to kill it via Task Manager.

Downloading the 14393.5 update now, will see what happens.

I'll have the 14393.5 build on a laptop, a VM and a Dell Venue tablet. Once it's released I think I will clean install
th2 10586 and apply updates to get to 10586.484, th4en try the upgrade to the anniversary 14393.5 (maybe) version, see how that goes. That is what the majority of people will be doing (non-insiders) so it's something that should be well tested.

  8. Cumulative Update KB3176927 for Windows 10 Insider Build 14393.5

Here in a week or so I will likely be busy with not only a RS1 clean up but cleaning the 7 Ultimate drive as well. The only present update being seen at the moment however besides going for a manual download is the "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems(KB3176927)" now prompting for a restart which shows other then the one update there the rest is all caught up on.

You should just wait for the ISO of the new release build 14393 and clean install with it.

No, the point I was trying to make was to test what will be the process the majority of current Windows 10 users will follow to get to the Anniversary upgrade level.

OK sounds like a plan. I plan to let my 3 systems update and then probably do a clean install in the coming Months.

Cumulative Update KB3176927 for Windows 10 Insider Build 14393.5

Although I liked the tweaks and improvements that v1607 offers over v1511,. after two weeks of various issues, including one major security permissions one (the dreaded "access denied" error 0x80070005) which prevented me from installing or updating Windows Store games and apps previously located on my H: drive, I have decided to restore back to v1511, which fixes all the issues I had, until the official release on the 2nd August. I will then take another backup, as I always do before upgrading Windows, and pray that the upgrade doesn't mess up my security permissions again. Prior to reverting back to v1511 though, I encountered other annoying issues such as my Outlook account settings suddenly becoming out of date in the Mail app (likely triggered by me restoring my PC back a few hours to a manual checkpoint) and a bug which prevents me from saving folder views settings for libraries.

At least with the final build, I should have an option to do a repair install, something which you don't have the luxury of doing with the Insider Preview builds. Aside from the bugs I experienced, the Anniversary build (if that is what v1607 Build 14393.5) was 100% stable and felt faster in use than v1511, I also liked the improved Start menu enough to actually use it over Start10 as well.

You can do a repair install. You just need to convert the install.esd file to an iso if not deleted.

Ah, thanks, didn't know that. Still, it's another option for the final build when it is released next week. *Biggrin
