    Thanks Brink, That settles that.

@Omidz 10 What is microsoft compatibility telemetry?
I assume microsoft added the word compatibility to the term so as not to make the word telemetry sound as threatening.

    My Pleasure,
I don't know if you've seen this site yet: [Guide] Best Privacy Settings for Windows 10 It's what I follow, everything is either turned off or set to minimalist values. If, I add anything like Devices, Xbox or Facebook, I'll add them as I need them.

  6. Sorry for ask stupid questions but what if I did not look at this forum? How was I supposed to know about this update?

I don't even know if I need it but I guess I will install it just to be safe!!!

  7. this is just my personal opinion but I wouldn't bother installing. The less updates you do the less chance of hosing your system. It's very unlikely but updates can cause problems. It's sounds like something that may only affect a very small percentage causing the release. 99.99% will be totally oblivious to its existence. I just wait to see what updates come through the windows update method as these are what most of the public will be on. Ms releases enough of these anyway without adding to the user workload. Just my opinion though

Yeah I was kind of thinking the same you said *Sad If it's sooooo important and necessary why not just put at the automatic windows update as always?

At the same time I get scared to get invaded by a filthy hacker cause I skipped this update *Sad

  9. The update previous to this has affected all my machines except the one still running Avast (i.e. no Defender).

The first time they are started for the day, the startup cycle never completes, desktop icons are not properly displayed; can't open action center or task manager. After 5 minutes, crash the machine & power up again & all is normal. This is also occurring on the Insider machine with Build 14986. Nothing in the Event Viewer except for improper shutdown & sometimes dcom slow to respond.

It appears to be a Defender problem and/or telemetry problem. Going to put this update on all of them.

Also noticed that the 32-bit tablet won't allow changing Diagnostic & Usage Data . It's not running an Insider build but the Anniversary Update.

My devices are not finding the update to 577. Windows update says everything is up to date. Anyone else having this issue?

..and then only if you are one of the few affected by the issues it fixes....
There are no other essential fixes in it, I'm not affected so I'm not going to bother installing it. This fix will be in the next Windows Update anyway.

    Hi,

I don't need it either but it makes W10 "feel" snappier so I installed it on all my gear anyway.
No drawbacks as far as I can tell.

    Cheers, *Wink

Just a note: I was running Windows Defender when I went to bed last night, just fired up the Notebook 20 minutes ago and a Cumulative Update had downloaded and installed, when finished rebooting I had been updated from 14393.479 to 14393.576, no hint of .577 so guess I didn't need it.
