Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB3216755 Windows 10 version 1607 build 14393.726

Good I don't mind waiting. I never care about updates anyway. For over 20 years of using windows I never got hit with a virus and I even back in the day use to download cracked versions of expensive software back when there was no free open source alternatives. BTW I don't do that anymore.

Has anyone on 14393.xxx Fast Ring seen 15046 or 15048 from Windows Update? Or is it because 14393.xxx is not UUP capable? My thinking is that since both 15046 and 15048 were released as full esd updates in addition to UPP maybe 14393.xxx might have a chance. In he past I was usually switched within 24 hours, but so far I have not seen anything.

 

If you are on version 14393 then you are on the Release Preview Ring or not on the Insider Ring at all. Not quite sure I understand your question ?

 

Ah there is an option you failed mention. I was on the Release Preview ring and yesterday I switched to the Fast Ring. So now I am on the Fast Ring using build 14393.726. I was hoping to see Windows Update download and install 15048. I know it can take some time to switch but am I waiting for something that is never going to happen? In the past I was usually switched within 24 hours, but so far I have not seen anything.

 

You can download the 15042 ISO from Microsoft and upgrade or clean install that way instead of waiting.

Once done, make sure you are on the Fast ring and you should be able to upgrade to 15048. That's what I did last night, worked great.

 

Yes that would be the ideal solution except that my HP Laptop refuses to install any 15000 series build. I get a BSOD on first boot. I have posted a thread in the BSOD section.

When you did the Clean Install from a flash drive, did you delete all the partitions on the boot drive then let the Windows 10 installer setup the partitions it needed? The drive should be unformatted, unallocated after you delete all the partitions.

No I did not. This is the nuclear option I referred to in another post. I am waiting on a 1TB external drive that I ordered to arrive so that I can do some backing up before trying this option.

No it was pulled by Microsoft because of a problem.

Next Tuesday MS should release the next Cumulative Update that will bring you current.

As far as I'm aware it will probably be next Tuesday 14th March. It's very likely to be a later build than 726 though *Smile

 

Yep the wait is surely almost over. It's a shame this doesn't happen more often - it's been fantastic not having any updates for such a long time. I'd imagine MS will make up for this big time once creators update releases with a slew of cumulative updates in quick succession in the aftermath.

 

I agree. It has been a blessing. No forced reboots for updates.
