Having a 1TB HD doesn't have any bearing on it, unless it's nearly full and/or highly fragmented (if it's an HDD spinner). Cumulative updates, even small ones, can be cpu intensive. System has to figure out what needs to be downloaded, then download it, then prep it, then update it. No simple answer.

Answering Doogie and Tomcats posts....I am an Insider, but have never had as much agro as with this RTM update.
Two machines have updated, one had its Hello biometric startup buggered up, the other am typing this post now.
My third machine a desktop i7 with unlimited high speed fibre broadband has spent nearly 2 hours downloading and only now preparing to install updates.. though this has remained static since I started this post.

No problems here as it went smoothly unlike last week's large update.

Dencal, what's really odd is that everybody's update experience is consistently inconsistent. I, too, have an i7, 75/75 net, and my whole thing, from Check for Updates all the way to Desktop, was 22 minutes. Go figure.

Further to my above post......the reason for the long time taken on third computer.....TWO large updates...KB 4015438 AND KB 3150513.

  7. I just updated a desktop and a laptop. Both took about 10 min to download this update, another 5 minutes to prepare and about 5 min to reboot. But all is good now.

Update went just fine and no issues to report, so far at least.

My reading of the Event Viewer is that two large updates was more than permitted, overloading the system...maybe someone will correct me.

As far as I'm aware it's just saying that the size limit of the event log has been reached for that particular event.

    Agree with Doogie.

Total side issue, if you want to get rid of that CAPI2 error, there's a fix. It's related to backups.

    Hi,

    Couldn't agree more.
What I do observe though is that it becomes a lot more consistent on an error free system .
Keep an eye on Event Viewer and resolve as much probs as you possibly can.

    Cheers, *Wink

    Hi,

Yes, it does involve some real machine code though. If anyone needs it, I can put it here but as it is machine dependent I can't guarantee success.

    Cheers, *Wink
