Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB4016240 Windows 10 v1703 Build 15063.250

I have just noticed, that it has fixed Start, it is no longer crippled after removing Cortana, nice touch.

 

I just read about this update, turned on my laptop, checked for updates and a quarter of an hour later it has completed with no noticeable hitches.
Funny thing is, I switched on another pc running W10pro and it denies that any updates are available.

 

That sure seems like a long time. For me it was about 3 minutes, a minute to download, a minute to install and then a restart.

 

For solving nothing it's a very long time!!!!

 

After the Creators Update my Malwarebytes anti-exloit app couldn't load. With the latest update it is running again.

 

Since this update, my Surface 3 (Non-Pro) even though I have set my login in netplwiz to NOT require a password, if the Surface goes to sleep when it wakes I have to login with a password. Hope this gets fixed soon. No problem at boot but if that screen goes off, password time!

 

I'm still on 1607 waiting for my old Dell Desktop and a brand new Lenovo laptop to see 1703 coming through. Only my wife's Surface Pro 4 got it through Windows update. All PCs are running Win 10 Pro x64. I don't quite understand the criteria by which the 1703 rollout is "staggered".

This occurred in a much earlier update for me, but what fixed it was disabling the lock screen by adding the following key to the registry:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization

The Personalization key did not exist, so I created it.

2. Under the Personalization key create a new DWORD value named NoLockScreen and set value to 1.

3. Didn't have to restart. Unfortunately, this does disable the lock screen entirely, but at least I don't keep getting a password prompt.

I did a reset to the Surface, as it was the only Windows install that displayed this condition. Problem solved and it seems to be working much better in several other aspects as well. So now it's a fresh install of 1703.

 

My message center icon is GONE!

 

Still on 15063.138... I have not recieved this update on Windows Update. I will wait until tuesday next week to see if I get a new cumulative update for May. I hope that nothing is wrong with my Windows upgrade. I can see that it auto checks for updates each day with a green check mark on the icon, so I guess it's OK?

 

@Faith, Are you on a metered connection? If you are, you may not get it via Windows Update. This is a non-security update, and it is my understanding that only critical and system stability updates will come on a metered connection. You can manually get the KB, if desired. See post #1.

Naw, I have unlimited data. It's 100 Mbit fiber connection through ethernet, unless Windows thinks that I'm on a metered one. How can I check that? But I rather wait a week for those May updates to come along, if I don't get them through Windows update then I need to check a few things out manually. Could it have something to do with how the updates are being pushed out per region or country?
