The same exact thing happened to me, with the exception that I'm using Windows 10 Home and that I can login in normally i.e. no two logins. It shows the proper OS build 16299.98 when I check it.

Should I be worried? Should I do a system restore and try again or leave it alone?

I think it's the description for those two updates that is confusing as it seems to say for Windows 10 v1709 which would imply that it's for systems running Windows 10 v1709.

    I don't use add-ons, didn't use then in IE.

Anyway I've used (and defended) IE for many years (since Win 95), and even in the wake of "better" browsers stuck with it. That only when IE became very problematic for me after the Anniversary update was I forced to give Edge a try. Once I gave Edge a try and got used to it, IE became old news and I've not looked back. Sometime you get to a point where it's time to try something different and you find you like it.

BTW I've not run into any sites I frequent, including financial, government, school, and multimedia, that Edge has issues with. It just works. That's me.

I have not had any problems since - I think it was a glitch in the update that caused it to initially fail but it recovered itself and installed anyway. The windows update system only recorded the failure not the success. If you go to view the installed updates in Control Panel you will see it listed there. I ran sfc just to check that there were no problems and it was all ok.

Since I only ever used the Search Box to search for local files I decided to disable Cortana using Brink's .reg file, This leaves the search box there but called Search Windows (really should read "Search this Machine"). Anyway the Search Box has gone back to a grey colour and stays like that after reboots.

I have found one financial data site that Edge cannot handle. Once in a while there's a popup asking you to confirm your status as a private investor or a professional. Once the popup appears there's no way to get out of it in Edge, tick the appropriate box then click the 'Confirm' button and it loops back to asking you to confirm your status.

Another advantage of IE over Edge is that you can individually assign different sites to different security zones, a feature I make use of that's missing in Edge.

Mine still shows White Doogie, no idea why as I've never messed with its color. Like you I have Cortana off.

Mike, I always had Cortana off but after this latest CU it seemed like it was partially enabled as I kept getting hints when clicking on the search Box. I just ran the disable Cortana reg file from here Enable or Disable Cortana in Windows 10 Apps Features Tutorials

No hints or issues with Cortana ....yet, but our latest CU did mess up my Display and changed one of my network settings. (private network) Its always something lately.

I wasn't having any issues with Cortana Mike apart from the unwanted hints popping up. All I'm saying is tha t after using the .reg file to disable Cortana my search box has returned to grey instead of the intrusive white that it had changed to.
