Windows 10: Cursor would not display in Outlook 2013 email

I have no idea how this happened. I've been using Outlook now since like forever. I was just doing normal email, creating a new message, when the cursor did not display in any Outlook window. It did display in the taskbar at the bottom of the main window.

I had to force-quite Outlook using Task Manager. When I restarted Outlook, most of my long message was not saved. *Banghead

What did I do? Any way to gracefully shut down Outlook. Alt-F4 did not work.

All I can suggest is that you take one or more of these actions

1 run Office Diagnostics [look in Outlook Help for that, I do not know where it is in Outlook 2013],

2 download & run the Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT),

3 search for info in the MSAnswers forum section for Outlook 2013. The search facility in that forum is terrible and you cannot trust posts by anybody with a Microsoft label under their name. If you create a question of your own there I suggest giving it the title Pictures in emails are not displayed in Outlook 2013 and make it clear in your question description that you have already checked that Trust centre, Automatic download setting.

In Outlook 2007 this behaviour is set by default but can be changed. Perhaps it is the same with Outlook 2013.

• In Outlook 2007 this behaviour can be unset at Tools, Trust centre, Automatic download.
• In Outlook 2016 this behaviour can be unset at Outlook options, Trust centre, Automatic download.
• In Outlook 2013 I would expect the relevant setting to be in a similar location to one of these, probably close to that of Outlook 2016.

Default Applications - Can't select Outlook 2013

Hi,
I have Office 2016 but have to use Outlook 2013 due to Exchange limitations for my corporate email account
All works well except when choosing default applications the list only has Outlook 2016
This is a problem as I want to configure the MAILTO (URL:MailTo) protocol to Outlook 2013 (the version I use)
I can't have both versions running together so how can I edit the list/select Outlook 2013 when choosing the default apps for email/MAILTO?
