    Okay let's try this:
    Grab your W7 DVD and keycode. Spam the F12 key at startup (tap tap tap tap tap) until you get an option to select the boot device. Select your optical drive (CD\DVD drive).

    At this point, you can put your W7 DVD in and boot to that (- or - if you put the W10 ISO on a DVD, you could insert that, and just install W10. Either way, you can install a fresh operating system. But you'd need to get to another system to burn the ISO to DVD.)

    Once you get W7 installed, let me know and I will give you instructions to upgrade from there.

    Hi Simrick,
    Thanks for your help. Your suggestion to boot from 'MedeaCreationTool-USB or DVD (both Win7 or Win10 ISO) worked to a point. It loaded the Win10 files and walked through the screens to set it up. THEN it said to reboot and continue the install after rebooting. That's where the process failed, since it will only stay in Widows 7 for 90 seconds but the shutting down. And won't recognize the DVD in Safemode.

    Life is calling to spend my time elsewhere and I will leave this issue unresolved till I have time or inclination to try again.
    I can access what I need in Safe mode and I have a new Toshiba Laptop I'll upgrade next week.
