Windows 10: Data Discs

I am old so have a lot of old pictures on data discs. Some pictures on the disc won't open, reason being given the file is protected. Just seems to have started this although I am still trying to straighten up this computer from a update crash a couple of years ago. Running windows 10 working with windows media player, Photos, Paint some others. pictures are jpg also have some on the computer that won't open from the crash that computer says doesn't recognize or need codec. The data disc pictures I took myself or the family took them. (jpg) computer says they are protected!

Disc for windows 7 to run on windows 10

I suggest you to follow the below steps to read the Windows 7 disc and check if it helps.

• Insert Windows 7 disc.
• Press “Windows+E” which will open file explorer.
• There you will find the Windows 7 disc.
• Open the disc and copy the files anywhere on your computer, so that you can access the information from the disc.

Burning photos to a CD Disc

Hi Jimmy,

We suggest that you use Windows Media Player to burn the images. Please follow the steps below:

• Open Windows Media Player.
• In the Player Library > Burn tab > select
  Burn options.
• Choose Audio CD or Data CD or DVD.
• Insert a blank disc into your CD or DVD burner. (Select the drive you want to use if your PC has more than one CD or DVD drive)
• Search for the items in your Player Library that you want to burn to the disc, and then drag them to the list pane (on the right side of the Player Library) to create a burn list.
• When you're finished with the list, select Start burn.

Note: If necessary, click the Clear list button to remove all items from the previous burn list.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
