  1. DE-ACTIVATE Windows on a computer

I am pretty sure more than one person had this trouble.

    Let's make this "real".

I am considering switching to Windows 10 last ... spring. So I walked into the store, and I bought a copy of Windows 10 Professional, physical disk attached with license and activation code. In U.S.

I thought it was version 1709 or something ... irrelevant, as they all had the same license.

I had a old laptop Dell System XPS L321X that I am considering replacing. It WAS running Windows 7, so for testing the system I swapped in a clean harddrive was a SSD but doesn't matter and installed that Windows 10 Pro. The experience was great but my laptop gets pretty warm 60 degree Celsius at CPU die, according to sensors, so I decided to replace it.

    So I bought the XPS 13 9360. Well that's not true ...

Before I do that, I had the average Lifebook UH554. My friend had it activated his refurbish people did a good job and come ... activated, I guess that I took and re-installed Windows 10 Pro on it for ... say, personal use. I didn't remember entering my code for this one ... weird.

After that I got this nifty XPS 13 9360 -- which was to replace my XPS L321X, the "testing" system on the XPS was also long dead the SSD that swapped in ... had hardware-level failure and is unresponsive.

So I opened up the XPS 13 9360 and reinstalled because Windows 10 Home Chinese Simplified possessed too much limitation, and it then told me that there's no license for it. Which make sense, because it is not shipped with Windows 10 Pro.

But I entered the code and it told me "didn't work". I tried to swap license from Dell System XPS L321X AND Lifebook UH 554 and none of them worked either. Let's say my friend lend me money to buy a activation key for this.

Now because this Dell System XPS L321X is no longer running a Windows 10 it is not designed to, and it will never again, the license I used on it is now ... did I waste it?

But hey, transferring it did NOT work. What's this nonsense?

I turned on XPS L321X, reduced my Windows 7 sector to tiny tiny, so I can dump a makeshift Windows 10 Pro onto it. It came activated.

So the license is bound to that device, and is valid.

Why can't I switch it to another device damn, it's also a XPS ?!

I do need to remind you, however, that I used my activation codes all of them in China, where Windows 10 Pro is made illegal.

But I bought it in U.S. legally! Does Microsoft ban the ones on travel? This is very unacceptable.

    System Config not really useful

Name is recognized "as is" by Microsoft.

Dell Systems XPS L321X: Intel Core i7-2637M, 4GB RAM. 250GB mSATA Samsung 860 EVO.

Lifebook UH554: Intel Core i5-4200U, 4GB RAM. 500GB SATA HGST 5400 RPM failed. Replaced with 500GB SATA Samsung 860 EVO.

    XPS 13 9360: Intel Core i7-8550U. 8GB RAM. 250GB m.2 SATA Samsung 860 EVO.

If you are here to reply to me that "hey bro, but this doesn't work like that" or "nah, you can't transfer license like that", explain to me under what conditions are the license eligible for transfer.

If you want to ask "hey, how did you get your Fujitsu activated", good question. I simply forgot. Perhaps when I sign in it automatically activates.

And no, my friend bought the license for the XPS 13 9360. I was supposed to re-use my activation code on my device to replace his if possible or give him mine.

If you are here to say "hey, but you did activate 3 machines. You got to pay that money", don't respond.

    :)
