Windows 10: De-activation of Windows 10

I am currently on hold, awaiting the fourth person from Microsoft customer support to fix this problem (on the phone for over 4 hours now)...


After upgrading my PC with a new motherboard, my Windows 10 Professional de-activated.

It was fully activated and working fine yesterday.


The troubleshooter could not fix the problem. The last registration key I had was for Windows 7 Professional (and I have no idea where that is now) - with the "free" update to Win 10, who cares about the old OS??

This is absolutely appalling, on both fronts:


1. My operating system should not have deactivated. Period. I bought the OS separately - not in a pre-built system. This deactivation feels unethical.


2. 4 Hours on the phone, being bounced from person-to-person, with hours of hold time, without resolving my issues, is TERRIBLE customer service. The last representative told me that I would not be on hold... that she would connect me directly. 2 hours later... still on hold.


Microsoft, please fix my product activation (and stop doing this!!)

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?
