December 2019 W10 Update Created two Problems

Currently I have W10 Home Ver 1909, OS build 18363.836. Prior to the Dec 2019 update, two things worked perfectly: I could cause my laptop to enter Sleep using Start > Power > Sleep; and I had used Settings to cause the computer to allow a screensaver upon inactivity but not to "lock" it out to the Login Screen (where the field for my password is displayed) to come on for four hours. (Amount of time is insignificant - could be any amount of time.)

First problem: After the Dec 2019 update, using Start > Power > Sleep causes my external monitors to black, the three LED lights on front show this: left one stays on (as it is supposed to), middle starts blinking, right side goes off. Previous to the update when I used the Sleep command, the middle and right LEDs went OFF. After a minute of this, the monitors come back on and the Log In screen with field for password is there. I.E., the laptop will not go into Sleep via this pathway.

Second problem: After that update, every two minutes of inactivity the Login lock screen comes up with the password field. Doesn't matter what kind of changes I make in Power Settings.

I have been in chat help with MS six times and have even reinstalled W10. Have searched the web far & wide (hours & hours) and tried every suggestion I've found. I have a diary of all the tweaks I've tried if it would be of help.

I'll try anything - not afraid of Registry tweaks/hacks. Yes, I know how to use Restore before fiddling with Registry.

P.S. - all the MS CSRs have used the term "Lock Screen" to describe the screen where the login field appears, but online I see that Lock Screen and Login Screen are two different things. So now I am using Login Screen with an added descriptor in order to be very clear about what appears.

    :)
