  1. Dedicated graphic card display improperly.

I bought new PC and connect my graphic card (GTX 1060) to HDMI port of my monitor. I also connect VGA ports of monitor and motherboard. The problem is the graphic card cannot display desktop icons, applications...... The screenshot I took show 2 desktops: normal one of Intel HD 530 and blank desktop of GTX 1060.

Another thing is there is no option for "Preferred graphic processor" in NVIDIA Control Panel so I cannot use it to play video games:

where do you change refresh rate

Assuming your monitor is capable of using a refresh rate higher than 60Hz and you are using a dedicated

AMD or Nvidia graphics card, you will find the option in your AMD or Nvidia graphics control panel , or ...

Start menu > Settings > Display > Display adapter properties > Display.

    - Intel HD graphics does not have an option for refresh rates higher than 60Hz, and the Display adapter properties

    window is not accessible.

    - AMD APU graphics... I don't know, but if possible refresh rate options would be in the same locations as dedicated gpu's.

Need Help To Get More Video Memory

More information would be helpful. Mainly if you are using integrated graphics or a dedicated graphics card, but

full system specs would be more illuminating.

    - Regardless... What you see is what you get.

You cannot add more VRAM to a graphics card, and you can only allocate the maximum amount of system RAM

a machine will dedicate to integrated graphics that the motherboard allows.

2GB is the maximum any motherboard will dedicate to integrated graphics. The game can still make use of any additional

free system RAM (as it also does with a dedicated graphics card), but whether the RAM dedicated to the graphics or not, system RAM is slower than VRAM found on a dedicated graphics card.- Aside from that, the graphics processor would have to be able to process
more VRAM/RAM, or the game will lag.

Have you tried disabling the onboard graphics?

  5. Yes, I tried to disable onboard graphic driver, it turn out horribly. It switch to the GTX 1060 for display and as you can see: no icons, no windows of program.... it only shows the taskbar. So I have to remove motherboard battery to reset the driver default.

  6. Switch to GTX1060 graphics then go to NVidia control panel and check the "resolution" settings for the display (i.e. is it 1080x1920 if connected to TV, or set to whatever your display's native resolution is?). There is also a setting for "desktop size and position". I think you just need to set up the card correctly.

You can disable the on-board graphics by going to Device Manger and right clicking on the on-board graphics and selecting "disable". You should also check your BIOS settings to be sure it is set to use the "PCIe" graphics over the "on-board" graphics.

Are you using two monitors? If so, they should both be connected to the 1060 outputs. If you are using one monitor why are you connecting it with both HDMI (1060) and VGA (motherboard)? For one monitor you only need the 1060 connection and disable the on-board graphics.

I only use 1 monitor. I am connect to both ports because my GTX 1060 does not display properly. When I try to solve the problem, I switch between HDMI and VGA input to check if the GTX 1060 display the same as onboard Intel Graphics.

The screenshot below show 2 displays of 2 cards: the left one is Intel Graphics 530, the right one is GTX 1060. I open Firefox window but the GTX does not show any window of Firefox, only the taskbar. Even the taskbar is not the same.

Okay. Just switching back and forth will cause problems because Windows still sees 2 graphics devices. You need to disable the on-board graphics, disconnect the VGA, and re-boot your system. Then check in Device Manager to be sure only the 1060 shows under the Display Adapters, and then check the Monitors tab to see what it says about the monitor. Have you installed the monitor driver?
