I've had this problem for nearly a year now but I thought I might as well ask here. I've tried to film footage on my PC using the default camera app the webcam I use is the Logitech C922, but every time it ends up having too much contrast. I've tested this webcam on a separate Windows laptop and it looked perfectly fine, and I've also tested it on external apps such as Webcam Settings and OBS Examples down below. Knowing that, I know it's a problem with my camera app and not the webcam itself.

Here's a screenshot of OBS using the same webcam:

Here's a photo with the default Camera app with the same webcam; in the same position and same lighting

I'm not sure what caused this issue since it was working perfectly fine before around May 2020 but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

We appreciate the prompt response. The webcam working fine with other applications may indicate a software limitation if the concern is only happening on the affected app. To further isolate your concern, we suggest
that you change the default camera of your device as suggested on the previous post. To do this, here are the steps:

    • Type Device Manager in the search box and press Enter.
    • Click the drop-down arrow for Imaging devices.
    • Right-click the built-in camera of your device and select Disable.

Once you're done, replicate the concern and check if the app recognize the third party camera as the default one.

On the other hand, if you encounter the same concern, you have the optionto get in touch with the developer of the app for further support or send them
feedback to consider this feature on their future updates.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

    Default Camera

I know this is an old thread, but unless I'm somehow missing something, Edwin's "answer" is simply unrelated to grandpavic's question.

Every idiot knows how to set the default MICROPHONE, although not every idiot can turn it into a complicated 10-step process as thouroughly as Edwin.

Probably for this reason, "how does one set the default microphone?" is just one of several BILLION questions that grandpavic did NOT ask.

Grandpavic, I have never seen a documented answer to your question. I have the impression that the camera which is used by the modern "Camera" APP is the defiault camera. You make this choice in the main window of the Camera app itself: there is a little "switch-me" icon in the top left corner of that window. Click on it until the camera you wish to choose is displaying its video in that main window. Then close the camera app. (annoyingly, most "modern" apps don't have any "quit" button, and in fact you were not supposed to quit them at al. Newer versions of these apps seem indeed to exit the app when you close their main window, so you don't have to worry about the memory footprint wasted just to choose a default. In any case, the default web cam of the system is the one the modern Camera app last used,

But that is just my empiical observation . I wouldnt normally allow myself to post some personal speculation as an 'answser' in such forum as this. But you asked a LONG time ago, withought receiving a single answerl. So i wanted to se what i could do

Missing apps: Store, People, Photos, Games & Camera on upgrading to 10

Thanks for replying spunk. That's the 'alphabetical' list I was referring to, none of these apps are in that 'All apps' list. Any more suggestions?
