Windows 10: default folder setting

I see that this issue has been going on for the last few years and with all my searching i have not yet seen a solution, especially now after all the updates as certain options aren't available like remember folder view in explorer......

All my folders keep switching back to default view, I've tried reset to default and all other kind of things.

Will there ever be a patch/fix for this other than messing with the registry?

I've never had this issue before installing Win 10 and even though you are discontinuing Win 7, I would rather switch to any other OS as i hate Win 10 every time i turn the computer on!!

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Change Folder View Option To a New Default Setting

That's ok.

In step 1, you set a default template for all folders.

in step 2, you set the folder view to "sort by" "type" for what you wanted, then "Apply to folders" to set it for all folders.

Correct. After you do step 1 in the tutorial I posted above and set the folder view how you like, you would then do step 2 apply it to all other folders.
