Windows 10: Default program on thumbnail suddeny Blank?

I don't know what happened but the little picture in the bottom right that as always showing the photoshop thing is blank?*Shock It opens correct in Photoshop so there seems nothing wrong with the assignment of the default file association i suspect? I want that blanco thing gone and my Photoshop's icon back*Mad!!! Any suggestions??

PDF thumbnails not showing in Windows 10 windows explorer

Tried this fix but my problem is that I continued to have a mix of thumbnails and icons in my folder. I've tried all fixes in this thread.

I just now tried installing re-activating Nitro Pro as my default PDF viewer and all of my thumbnails are appearing. After changing back to Acrobat as my default viewer, the thumbnails are still there!

Nitro Pro is available as a trial so you can download it and see if it works for you.

I've been trying different PDF programs and finally settled on Drawboard PDF for marking up engineering drawings with Windows 10 and my Surface Pro 3 tablet. Awesome program!

right click on it
select > change icon
if you want a specific photoshop icon,
browse to the location where the photoshop executable is located

Or, go to settings, System > Default Apps

 

I think my question was not clear enough? The default application is fine but the photoshop icon is Blank instead of the normal blue icon or what it's called? This is a .psd-filetype and i can only change icons of file-extensions with a third party freeware program like for instance filetypeman but that's not my question... I only want that small blank thing changed in a photoshop icon - not a complete new file-extension-icon.

It's hard to find a solution because i don't know how to call it? It's the default program that opens - for instance in my example - a blank A4 portrait template. Only that little thing in at the bottom right?*Sad I already have reset my icon-cache but that didn't do the trick. If annybody knows a link for more info or a name should also be helpfull?

 

I have occasionally had that happen to desktop icons and would love to know what is going on and how to stop it from happening. But it's pretty easy to fix for application icons.

You can just right click on the shortcut, select "Change Icon" and choose the appropriate one. But you have to know where that appropriate icon live. I find it easier to just recreate the shortcut.( I apologize for the details. You probably already know how to create a desktop icon, but just in case, ...)

• Right click on the icon, look in the "Shortcut" tab (which should automatically open), and copy the contents of the "Start in" field. (This isn't really necessary, but it will make step 3 easier.)
• Delete the desktop icon.
• In File Explorer, find the executable. It will be in the folder whose location you copied in step 1.
  Right click-and-hold the .exe file, drag to the desktop, release the mouse button, and click on "Create shortcuts here".

This should build a shortcut with the correct icon, but there may be times when it doesn't.

 

Thanks for your reply pokeefe0001. The way i fixed it was uninstall evertything of Adobe and reinstall. I did find a program that had an editor to change the icon at the bottom. So now i know that icon thing that is showing at the bottom is called the'default file handler. I don't know if it will work but i found a program called 'Defaults Program Editor'.That offers more solutions for understanding things!
