    Defender not working and defender update install getting error


    Windows defender not working and getting notifications that Virus protection is turned off. But there is no option turning it on. In services it is not starting either.

    Windows update and windows defender issues

    We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

    • On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
    • Click Settings.
    • Turn Real-time protection on.
    We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.

    Defender updates no longer shown

    Sorry but I just want to see Defender updates listed in my update history. Updates for office 2010 etc are shown so why not Windows Defender?

    WIndows Defender Update Error - 0x80240022

    If you installed other antivirus software such as SEP (in my case), the antivirus software may have inappropriately turned off the windows defender during installing. The solution is to uninstall the third party antivirus software, e.g. SEP12.1.6, restart
    your computer, the defender should be automatically turned on, update the defender definition from the defender settings, then turn all the options off (real-time protection etc) in the settings/windows defender, reinstall the SEP, restart the computer. These
    steps should solve the problem of windows defender definition update errors in win 10. I am not sure this is the exact problem you have, but hope this suggestion works for you.
