Defender says I have malware running in an Excel macro but I didn't use macros

I got this message from Windows Defender Trojan:Script/Foretype.A!ml for my Excel file. I'm running Excel ver 2002. I am the author of the Excel file and I do not use Macros of any type. When I run inspect it says I am running macros. I went to view - macros, the pop up is all blank. Went to the VB editor all pages blank.

I got the file setting not to run any macros.

Any ideas on what is going on? Has malware inserted a hidden macro?

    Thanks

  3. Ez Macros or any other Macro program

    Hi Brian,

The issue is quite unclear and too broad for us to distinguish the main reason why you are having challenges/issues in Macro. To have a better understanding of your concern, we'd like to ask you some questions:

    • Are you referring on using macros on Excel? If yes, what is the version of your Office?
    • What exact application are you using when using macros? Where did you download it?
    • What were the recent changes made on your computer before you experienced this issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Did you receive any error message?

Your response will be much appreciated.

RUN A MACRO FROM WITHIN ANOTHER MACRO

Google "knows" when you ask it like so:

how to launch an excel macro from a macro

    and it points you to
