    Defender scheduled scan set up.


    Moderators kindly move this post to relevant if required.
    I may have screwed up,advice welcomed . Task Scheduler > Libraries> Windows > Windows Defender .
    Objective to insert new task > Scan daily full scan @7.30am.Start date 03/03/2020
    Double clicked Windows defender current task > triggers > inserted what i thought was relevant > apply. Done



    My concern ? is that i now have Windows defender scan (last run) (0x2) Last screen shot. also yellow warning Flag.
    Also last line in this window (windows verification ) not run Last screen shot.

    Hi Ian,

    Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

    I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:


    • Search and open Schedule tasks.

    • In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
      Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.

    • Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.

    • Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.

    Setting the Scan Schedule in Defender

    You can schedule your Full Scan by following the steps provided here:

    However, there’s currently an issue where scheduled scans will only run sporadically when they're running under the
    System account – so when you get to step 7, don’t change the user account – leave it at its default (administrator).

    Automatic Maintenance normally runs a daily Quick Scan, but since the Automatic Maintenance scan runs under the
    System account by default, it’s also being affected by this same issue:
