Windows 10: Defender

I have noticed that recently windows defender is reporting the last update having been done in the future - as in today the update was reported as being done at 13:25, when the time was actually 13:05 -


and YES, I have got defender to stop complaining that I am not running the time sync facility by setting the 'sync option' and occasionally manually check that it has actually used the sync process, by setting the time to a couple of minutes in the past - noting that it may take several hours to 'sync'.


Additionally, I note that I do not have any indication of the last checked time - only the last update time -

So I have NO indication as to the latest definitions update having been acquired, or if MS have just NOT made a new one available in the last 2 days.


So - anyone know of:

1) A way to tell when the last check was attempted?

2) A way to tell when the last check was successfully completed?

3) A way to tell if I actually am UP-TO-DATE with virus profiles?


And ---

4) A way to 'retain' some files with malware profiles so I can tell if a scan with a new malware checking offering is actually finding them?

Windows Defender problem

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Let us know the result.

  Is this issue specific to third party apps?
  

I would suggest you to open Windows defender and add exclusions and check if it helps. Follow the steps to add exclusions in windows Defender.

  Type Windows defender settings in the search bar and press enter
  
• 
  Under Exclusions click on Add Exclusion
