Hi mknic,
I have literally just installed the definition update KB2267602 without any problem. I suggest as a first step checking all the Windows Defender settings to make sure they all have the 'green ticks' in each section.






ps. The only reason the 'Family Options' is not ticked is because I am the only user on my computer.

I also would suggest running the 'Troubleshoot' feature in the Update & Security settings which has a section dealing with update problems.

hi,

during the recent Win 10 update to vers 16299.309 windows defender definition update KB2267602 failed to install.

it downloads, then begins installation and gets to 100% then throws the error below:

"Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.263.659.0) - Error 0x80070643"

i tried many things including in-place upgrade repair install of windows 10 (kept apps & settings) but it still doesn;t work.

i have no 3rd party anti-virus installed.

tried Elevated Command prompt with below commands:

“%PROGRAMFILES%\Windows Defender\MPCMDRUN.exe” -RemoveDefinitions -All (this worked ok)

“%PROGRAMFILES%\Windows Defender\MPCMDRUN.exe” -SignatureUpdate (this failed - ERROR: Signature Update failed with hr=80070643)

i tried manual update via "mpam-fe.exe" but error remains

i tried windows update trouble shooter.. it finds issues.. repairs them but Defender won't install the definition

tried DISM repair and SFC/scannow but no issues found

reset firewall.. no change

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
