Good day Community,I have a Seagate External HDD 1TB plugged into a USB 3.0 Port of my Dell desktop running Windows 10 Pro 21H1 on a single partition. I am trying to back up the data from the desktop to external drive and while doing so I noticed that the write speed suddenly dropped from 25Mbps to 330Kb and just after a minute it made a disconnect sound. I tried again twice, thrice and it did the same. One thing I tested was that while the Write throughput from PC to External HDD is dropping, the speed was normal when I copied the data from External HDD to Windows PC. Disconnected and teste

Urgent advice:Windows - Delayed Write Failed

Ive been getting this message for the past couple of days 'Windows - Delayed Write Failed' I also get some text with this saying that a certain file has failed to save and now the data is lost so save it in another place.

Ive been looking about to find a solution as a format did not solve it! Ive tried disabling 'write caching' like some have said on other sites and Ive also tried some methods suggested by Micro$oft, but still no luck *Frown

Ive updated all the Via chipset drivers and SATA / IDE drivers *Confused

What can I try next???

 

Western digital....WHY did I buy it.

Ever since I switched back to WD I've been getting errors again. I stopped using them for this reason about 3 years ago. I found a great deal on some 250gb sata drives (new retail) and what do you know. errors errors errors.

Moving data files to the D:\drive confusion!

I moved the Data files Contacts, Documents etc. to the D:\ drive using the Properties > Location > Move method and Office Word etc. in Options > Save show that the Save destination is D:\Users\username\Documents which is as it should be BUT which of the duplicated folders as I also made the changes in Windows > Settings > Storage method which seem to have duplicated the folders and I now have two folders in D:\Users\username\ for Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos presumably moved there by the Windows > Settings > Storage these folders do not have an icon just a plain folder picture and I assume they are the ones from theWindows > Settings > Storage method.

1. What did I do wrong to get duplicate folders?
2. Which folders will be used when I finally save work to?
3. Can the duplicate folders without the icons be deleted or would there be issues?

The screenshot is not from the actual pc but just to demonstrate how in actually shows in the other pc as I can't get to the actual pc just yet. No data has been saved as yet as the Office 365 applications have not been used yet.
