Windows 10: Delete PINs for all accounts on Windows 10 workstation

We're rolling out Windows 10 Enterprise to the first batch of new computers. We tested PIN and fingerprint login on the reference computer. Before we capture an image of the reference computer, I want to delete the PIN and fingerprint signature for any and all user accounts that have logged in, including domain accounts. I found that fingerprint login signatures can be deleted from c:\windows\system32\WinBioDatabase.

Can you tell me the folder or reg key where PINs are stored? Or, the proper method to clear out all local PINs?

Windows 7/8 upgraded to 10 – activation doubt

Good morning, I have several workstations originally with Windows 7 and 8 OEM upgraded to Windows 10 before the end of July 2016. All the workstations are joined to my domain. Unfortunately, I had to restore the OS system
of one workstation and Windows 10 activation didn’t work. I didn’t make any changes in the hardware configuration. I tried and tried but in the end I had to restore the factory image with Windows 7. Somewhere I’ve read that it’s necessary to link a Microsoft
account…

Which is the best practice in my situation? Do I have to connect a local account of the workstation with a Microsoft account? Can I use the same account for all of my workstation? Is there a way to check if the workstation
is correctly linked to the account in case of restore? Thank you very much for all the information you’ll give me.

Windows 10 Education: File & Print sharing broken after major Winodws Update!!!

I am running the current version of Windows 10 Education on three workstations using Network & File sharing to share a folder of an application that needs to run on the host as well as on the other workstations! The users
of these workstations doesn't want user accounts with passwords, so I created a hidden account with the same name and password on all of the workstations and added the devices and their credentials in the Windows Credential Manager and I was able to use Windows
File & Print sharing!

My problem is that thus far after every major Windows Upgrade (from v1607 to v1703 and from v1703 to v1709) my file and print sharing becomes broken and I get prompted on the workstations for the host's credentials only
to find that that the credentials gets denied by the hos! I then delete the hidden accounts and recreate them, sign out all the workstations and sign back in, and that solves my problem!

I also use file and print sharing on Windows 10 Pro in a different environment and that has been working perfectly even after major upgrades, so it seems that Windows 10 Pro is not affected! I suspect that Windows 10 Enterprise
might also be affected!

Any information regarding this topic would be much appreciated!

 

Hi Clp, welcome to the Ten Forums.

You need to remove the PIN one by one for each user account having it enabled in your deployment image. It is not possible to remove the PIN option in the Settings > Accounts > Sign in options, even when you remove the PIN before capturing the image, the end users will have the option to use PIN.
