Windows 10: Deleted browsing history

Well have as usual tried to find a solution out there but still no joy, as usual. Problem began when I kept, well still am getting, "Cannot find scriptfile xxxxxxx .vbs". Spent ages trying to find a solution using suggested remedies on the web, none worked. So I came across a suggestion to use CCleaner. So I downloaded a copy and all that did was delete my browsing history on both Chrome and Mozilla. To date I have been unable to remedy the situation. Is very inconvenient that the history has gone. Have tried again numerous web suggestions to retrieve history but to no avail. Do I just assume they are lost. I tried a windows restore point hoping but that failed in itself.

Note: When you use InPrivate Tabs your browsing data (like cookies history or temporary files) isn’t saved on your pc after you are done. Microsoft Edge deletes temporary data from
your pc after all your InPrivate Tabs are closed.
