  1. Deleted program still recognised by Windows

Hi. My BitDefender antivirus was playing up yet again so I uninstalled it. For some reason, BitDefender comes in two parts, the AV itself and an 'agent' (bdagent.exe). I uninstalled both and also went through the registry to delete items with those names.

When I go to customise my taskbar, bdagent is still showing as an option. Can anyone suggest why this is and how I can remove it from the list of options? Thank you.

  2. Nokia 1020 not recognised by PC - but still charges...

    Name: Windows Phone

Model: Nokia 909 (Nokia Lumia 1020)

    Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update

    OS Version: 8.10.14203.306

    Firmware revision number: 3051.50009.1424.0003

    Hardware revision number: 4.4.0.2

If you're here to answer, thanks for taking the time to read! If you're here because you have the same problem, I hope you will find a solution on this page!

I have a Nokia Lumia 1020 which is less than 12 months old. Upon connecting it to my PC, the phone indicates a charge but it is not recognised by device manager, the windows phone sync app or file explorer.

This has become frustrating as I sync a lot of music and images via my PC (which are also available via OneDrive, but Windows Phone lacks an 'Available Offline' option!) Here is a list of steps I have already taken:

    • Reinstalled Windows Phone App on primary PC
    • Used several USB ports on primary PC
    • Several soft reboots on the device
    • Tried 3 cables - one a working data cable, one a Microsoft cable for the phone and another a Belkin cable
    • Used primary PC running on Windows 10 preview, another PC running Windows 8.1 as well as a tablet running Windows RT.
    • Uninstalled all Nokia-related software on PC
    • Factory reset on device
    • The 'turn off the phone then plug in cable' trick
I have also tried following the help similar questions here, here and here.

Again, thanks for taking the time to read and I hope we can find a solution.

  3. Nokia 1020 not recognised by PC - but still charges...

    Hi Manon,

    Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, the Nokia Recovery Tool does not recognise the phone. I've tried the 'My phone does not start up or respond'
but it is still not recognised.

Deleted program still recognised by Windows

  5. Thanks, dalchina, but I was actually just using bitdefender as an example. There's another uninstalled program on the list as well - I didn't mention it so as to keep my query simple. So I'd still like to find out how an uninstalled program is listed as an option for showing on the taskbar (and how to get rid of that option...). Thanks again.

AV programs aside, for programs you download and install from the internet other than store apps, you can:
    - use Revo uninstaller (e.g.) - browse to any remaining exe's you can find and do a scan

    - reinstall the program (counter-intuitive), and then use Revo or Geek uninstaller (free) to uninstall the program including a scan afterwards.
