    USB HDD: IN BIOS

Hi AJAY, in modern BIOS (UEFI) it is normal to have USB devices listed, such as USB HDD without drive being plugged in.

In older Legacy BIOS, a drive would have to be plugged in for it to be listed in BIOS, but not no londer . . .

    DELL BIOS USB not showing

    Dell bios update locked up.

OK, still no luck, lets try to flash your BIOS from a USB flash Drive - you will need to work on another PC for about 15 minutes to create the USB flash drive

    1. Click HERE to download the latest BIOS Update for your System - Make a note of the exact name of the file for later

    2. Create a bootable DOS USB Flash Drive

    • Click HERE to download RUFUS
    • Install RUFUS and start the application

    • Connect your USB drive to the computer and select it in the Device box
    • Ensure the “Create a bootable disk using” checkbox is enabled and ensure FreeDOS is selected. (Rufus includes FreeDOS, so you won’t have to download anything else.)
    • Click the Start button. This will erase the contents of your USB drive!
    • When the bootable Flash Drive is created, copy the BIOS Update File onto the Flash Drive

    3. Flash Your BIOS

    • Insert the USB Flash drive into your Dell
    • Start your system and press F12 when the Dell Splash logo appears to display the One Time Boot Menu
    • Using arrow keys, select USB Storage Device and press Return
    • The system will boot to a Diag C:\> prompt
    • Run the BIOS Update by typing the full filename e.g. O9010A12.exe and hit Return
    • The BIOS Update Utility will load, follow the instructions on screen to flash your BIOS

Hopefully, after all that your system will boot up . . .
