Windows 10: Dell Latitude E6440 - Windows 10 1909 - Completely Freezes

I've been battling this laptop for the passed week and I am running out of idea on what is causing it to completely freeze. It began last week after an abrupt shutdown because of a low battery. When it was left to charge for a while and turned back on it loaded Windows 10 like normal but after 5 minutes it completely froze up cannot open any programs, cannot move cursor, no disk indicator while loading normal startup programs. I hard reset it and after it came back up it froze again, this time without me opening anything. There are no peripherals attached to this laptop, any hardware on it right now is factory stock except for the solid state drive I installed a year ago.


Since then I have tried quite a few things such as a startup repair, clean boot, disabling any unnecessary startup services, updating drivers, ect. but nothing has worked. The only thing that does work is when I boot into safe mode. When I do it will not freeze up at all. To test if software was an issue I made a recovery image of this install and wiped the SSD then reinstalled Windows 10 20H2. Within the first 10 minutes of a fresh install it will still freeze up but if I go into safe mode after that I cannot replicate the issue.


I began looking at hardware after this. I replaced memory, the SSD and even the entire motherboard as well as removing the WiFi card and battery. The issue still persists though when booting normally but not in safe mode.


At this point I'm not sure where to turn or what else to check for. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or have an idea on what I can try next?

Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

I am having problem with Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%. Tried installation twice and failed. Any suggestion on how to complete the upgrade ? Please advise.

 

Dell Latitude E4310, missing driver, Windows 10

Hello,

I started with a fully functional Dell Latitude E4310 (circa 2011) with Windows 7 pro. Microsoft get windows 10 app came up all green for upgrading to Windows 10. Upgraded, and the laptop became very slow. It's basically become unusable. Before you ask -
it has 8Gb RAM.

Investigation (too little too late):

I'm missing one driver after upgrading.

Device type: Other devices

Manufacturer: Unknown

Location: on PCI Express Root Complex

No idea what this device might be or if it's related to my performance issues. Should have made a list before upgrading.

Now (again, too little too late), I check Dell's website - for drivers. They have no plans to support Latitude E4310 with Windows 10.

So. Other than _running_ back to Windows 7 as fast as I can, does anyone have any suggestions?
