Just to clarify, Fast Startup is the Windows piece, Fast Boot is the UEFI piece and should be an item in BIOS.

I don't think I would have disable UEFI boot unless that was required to disable Secure boot.

  3. I briefly headed to Dell and looked up XPS 13 and came across this. You will notice the first links is how to re-image which contains BIOS settings.

Which XPS 13 do you have?

  5. No special guide on installing 10 on this device

Do you have your data backed up?

What I'm thinking is there should be a recovery partition installed by vendor on disk. Not sure which key invokes, likely F11.

If invoke it should restore system. Did this unit come with Windows 10. It will destroy all data !!

I must do more searching, something doesn't add up here. Your machine should be able to boot from a MS created key. You said it won't even boot from other products.

Dell XPS 13 Hard Drive Boot Inaccesible Boot Device

yes i did that, still nothing, i had to switch to legacy since UEFI doesnt allow me to choose usb drive, this is so crazy, maybe because it came with windows 8.1, i don't know, but everything i threw at it still doesnt allow me to reformat, safe mode, etc.

I think i need to take to a specialist and they will probably remove hard drive and make me install a new one. Crazy, i do appreciate all the help really.

  10. If you have second computer and a drivebay you can reset it yourself but I think this is bios setting prevent the boot.

It should not matter what condition the drive is in. You should be able to boot from a USB key with the BIOS set appropriately.

I might suggest heading to Dell forums and see if they can provide proper BIOS settings to boot from USB.

At this point you can shoot me. So if you create using the media creator found here

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...load/windows10

and create the USB key with their process. Then boot and on very first screen hit shift + F10 you cannot get to Command prompt.

I'm stumped. I don't see what is wrong. Did you notice a setting called CSM in BIOS by chance.

  15. In posting #15 you said you can't find fast boot that is because Dell calls it Rapid Start. Saw this in info Bree posted.

Could you enter Bios and see if you can find and disable Rapid Start.
