Windows 10: Denied Access to Files After Windows 10 Update

After Windows 10 updated, the files on my desktop and the apps pinned to my taskbar disappeared. In addition, I no longer have permission to access, among other things, file explorer. I also do not have a security tab. I am the administrator, so any advice? Thanks.

• Are you getting any error messages when checking for updates?

• Confirm the most recent KB update that your computer is trying to install. To check, refer to the steps below:

• Press Windows key + I, then select Update & Security.
• Go to Windows Update, select View installed update history.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Denied access to files

Ok I got a pc in from a friend and he wants me to fix it, it doesn't boot up properly so I was thinking reinstall windows but first I have to save all his songs and crap. First problem it denies me access to the files on his HDD when it is hooked up to my pc .... damn. Second problem is that it is a very, very old pc nforce 2 chipset and I can't ID the board so I can't get the drivers. It won't turn on so I can't check it that way any ideas.
