Dependencies missing in Print Spooler Service & "Class not registered" error

This has me stumped. The computer will not print, and the Print Troubleshooter gives me two messages:

"Print Spooler service isn't running" and
"Print spooler service isn't starting automatically"
In both cases, the troubleshooter reports "Not Fixed."

However, when I look at Services, it shows the Print Spooler is on Automatic and Running.

When I check the Dependencies tab in Services, the Spooler doesn't show ANY. Also, when I click on the tab, I get an error message when it comes up--a red circle with an X in it, and the message--
X Interface: Class not registered. I suspect this "Class not registered" error is an important part of this, but I've been unable to find a clear explanation of how to register the Class for this.

At this point I ran SFC /scannow, which told me I had integrity violations that it could not repair. I think I had done this not too long ago, and it said there were no violations.

I then ran DISM/.../RestoreHealth, which said it completed successfully. I restarted the computer, then ran SFC /scannow again, which now reported no integrity violations. I thought I was on my way, but I ran the Print Troubleshooter again, and unfortunately, everything was the same--same two errors, Troubleshooter could not fix, and again Dependencies were empty, with the same "X Interface: Class not registered" error.

I ran SFC /scannow once more, and it now does not show any integrity violations. However, the problem has not changed.

This is a desktop machine with Win10 ver. 1803, a Gigabyte motherboard and 12 GB DDR3 RAM. It also has 4 hard drives, including a 120 GB SSD for the OS and quite a few USB connections. The printer is a Canon Network Laser printer, on wireless, but I don't have any trouble printing from my laptop.

Any ideas what I should do next?

    :)

  2. HTTP dependency for print spooler

I'm using Windows 10 and lost print capability with my Epson XP-810 printer following an automatic update that occurred overnight on 26 September. I went into services and right clicked on print spooler and checked on dependencies. RPC and HTTP were
listed. I started RPC, set it for automatic and went looking for HTTP. HTTP was not listed so I'm unable to start the print spooler. I went through this process about a year ago and had no problem as the HTTP service was listed but it's no longer there.
How can I restore the HTTP function?

  3. Issue after installation with print spooler

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

I certainly understand your concern and will try my best to help you.

I really appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix this issue.

I would suggest you to try the steps given below and check if that helps.

Note: All the steps mentioned below holds good for windows 10 as well.

If print spooler keeps stopping in Windows 8.1,
I would suggest to follow the steps given below.

    • If the print spooler is not responding to your print commands and print is not happening when printer is fine physically (No paper jam or any error indications on printer hardware). These methods will help
to clear the pending print jobs (print queue) and hanging spooler service.

    • Clear the print spooler files where the Operating Systems store printing jobs temporarily, deleting these file will allow the print spooler to start freshly and run smoothly next time.

    • Go to C -> Windows -> System32 -> Spool -> Printers and delete all files inside this folder. This is the location OS keeps the printing jobs before sending
to printers. Once you delete these files, print queue will be cleared. The same location is applicable for latest Windows 8 and 8.1 too.
If the problem persists, follow the steps given below.

    • Go to services under Computer Management.

    • Double click Print Spooler service and go to
Recovery tab. Here we can set what that service should do when it fails.

    • Select ‘Restart the Service’ in Subsequent Failures field. So, it will try restarting print spooler service whenever it fails.

    • Go to ‘Dependencies’
tab and make sure all depending services are started. Luckily, only one dependency service for print spooler service which is
      Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service.

    • Check the RPC service in services and make sure it’s already started.
If the issue still persists, the last step would be to check for the printer drivers. If the printer drivers are not installed properly, I would suggest you to follow the steps given below and check if that helps.

    • Delete all unwanted printers from your computer.

    • Make sure all printers are installed with proper drivers.

    Note: The above article will
help you identify and fix common printer problems in Windows. Printing problems can be caused by cables that aren’t connected properly, problems with wireless adapters or settings, damaged or incompatible printer drivers or missing updates.

I hope this information is helpful.
