Windows 10: Desktop disappeared and right click doesn't work - help please!

I can't see any reference to this on the forum, but it must have happened to someone here before. For some reason, my normal desktop has disappeared and has been replaced by what I can only describe as an enlarged version of the Start menu. The original desktop, with its icons, appears for a brief second at startup, then goes to the start menu. I am attaching a screen shot of the 'new and unwanted' desktop. Moreover, the right click on the mouse has no effect.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me to get my original desktop back!

Can't Right-Click Desktop, Can't get back Icons

I usually tend to like a clean empty desktop. But there's a point in everyone's life when clicking an Icon or cleaning your Desktop is quite necessary and has to be done.

Unfortunately it can't be done for me... :/

I usually Right-Click my desktop and un-check "View Desktop Icons". Quite recently when I tried doing so, and I wasn't able to. No menu pops up when I Right-Click. I can Right-Click the task bar, and on Google Chrome, and on my games. Pretty much any where
but my desktop. This is quite frustrating. I've looked up other post but nothing seems to work.

I have tried reading this " ", but that doesn't work or does it apply to me.

So here I am, begging like a pathetic fool! Someone please help a poor soul!

desktop screen blinks

using windows 10. when RIGHT CLICK on any desktop app the desktop screen blinks and the tool bar menu as well as right down corner menu disappear for 1-2 seconds and comes back after blinking. please help to fix the problem
