Windows 10: Desktop Gone - Window Minimizer Option Gone

I started up my laptop as I usually do and my desktop is gone! Just blank with some apps on it. I intermittently see the desktop background I used to have but it disappears in a split second to the one I am seeing now. I've right clicked the taskbar to select show desktop and there is no option for it. Why did this all change suddenly? I did not do anything nor do I want this new version. Can I get my normal desktop back?

The next problem I have is there should be the X , a "-" to minimize or the "square" to adjust the screen size manually or to expand. I only show the X now and have no option to minimize or adjust the tab I'm in. I do not like this! How can this get fixed??

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

Desktop is gone

I am highly upset after just updating windows 10. My desktop is completely gone and I am unable to minimize anything I open to work on later. I am at the point of wanting to break my computer. I am so frustrated being a college student is not easy when
I cannot do these basics. I have a microsoft surface pro 4. Someone please help me before I lose it.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check, if it helps:

Method 1

Step: 1 Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip:
Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.

Step: 2 Click File > Run New Task

Step: 3 Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”

Step: 4 Type PowerShell

Step: 5 Type the following in the PowerShell prompt:

$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest

Step: 6 Close the PowerShell window

Step: 7 Reboot

Method 2:

I would also suggest you to run the System update readiness command. It detects incorrect manifests, cabinets or registry data, it may replace the incorrect data with corrected version available. Follow the steps.

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click command prompt (Run as administrator).
• In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press
  Enter key after each command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type
Exit, and then press Enter.
