Windows 10: Desktop not letting me sign in.

I am a complete novice using Windows 10.I switch on the pc. the Welcome logo is there then a dark blue screen appears and nothing happens.If I CAD to switch user, my wife and I have accounts on the same machine, we can access her part. The pages open and we can access her files and programmes.Switching back to mine and the welcome screen is there for a short while before the dark blue screen of nothing.Unfortunately we have documents which are only on my section of the pc and we need to access them.We would appreciate any help.Thank you in anticipation.John

Hi,

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.

Windows 10 upgrade immediate issues with desktop Sign-in password

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response. Try these steps:

• Try disconnecting the cable from the Internet:

• • If there is a Wi-Fi icon on the sign-in screen, click it and go to Airplane mode.
    
  • If there is a wired connection, disconnect the wire.
  • If sign-in is successful, let us know in the comments!
  • Also, we can then change to a local account, restart, and re-connect to the MSA.
    
  • If this works, please let us know!

2. Try sign-in on another device (phone or PC) via the
https://account.microsoft.com page.

• If the sign-in is unsuccessful, stop and handle it like any other password issue.
  
• If sign-in is successful there, don’t try resetting/changing the password, continue to the next step.

3. Try using the On-Screen Keyboard to sign in on the PC.
4. If that fails, make sure the PC is connected to the Internet (the connection icon should be visible in the lower right).
