    In Windows Phone 8.1, the user agent string used to tell websites you want the Desktop website was changed for the worse, and as a result, the phone now fails on the majority of websites in giving you the desktop version. There's no fix until Microsoft
    reverses these changes.

    Brink: Thanks. I <believe> I have turned off tablet Mode But I still don't see how to switch from the Start tiles view to Desktop. ??

    I googled for that answer myself and I was told to go to IE options/programs and check open with desktop. I am not at my laptop and not sure of the wording, but it gives you 2 options one to open on the tile screen or desktop. Worked for me.

    I use FF but it still worked.
