Desktop Window Manager using an absurd amount of memory.

After updating to the Anniversary update i have noticed an absurd amount of memory usage by Desktop Window Manager.

I'm running Windows 10 Home x64 Anniversary edition on the following system.

    Intel i7-3820i @3.66GHz

    16GB Corsair Ram

    128GB SSD

    2TB HDD

    3TB HDD

    Nvidia Geforce 980GTX Ti.

I normally play a resource-heavy game and that's when the problem appears the most.

Every time i open an application Desktop Window Manager uses more memory. As it should.

But it never seems to release the memory whenever i exit applications.

When i play the game (Football Manager 2016) the usage of memory by dwm.exe skyrockets.

Just an hour ago it was using 4.2GB of memory. Before the update it was nowhere near that level.

In total it was using 62% of my memory. Whereas before the update the same total usage was never over 42%

Now dwm.exe alone have been using 25% of my total memory.

Something's not right about this. Whether it's something to do with the update itself or whether it's a 3rd party conflict is hard to say.

I did get in touch with a couple of techs but we didn't solve anything.

At the moment, if i'm going to do what i do every day, i need to restart the computer at least a couple of times a day.

Before the update i could leave it on for days at a time without ever having a problem.

    Question is straight forward.

Why is dwm.exe hogging so much memory? And why doesn't it release the memory when exiting the applications?

    (Please don't mind the Portuguese...)

    I've tried the following:

    • Update all drives
    • Run Malware Bytes
    • Run AntiSpyware
    • Increase/decrease the amount of virtual memory (paging)
These actions reduced the usage for a while, but it always comes back...

Any ideas on how to fix this permanently?
