Windows 10: Developer mode stuck during installation

Anyone have any idea how to enter or exit Win10 Developer Mode? I went to Settings, and ticked the radio button "Developer mode". Now it's stuck, "Installing Developer Mode package". It refuses to cancel, and it refuses to complete. When I tried to shut down, my PC was stuck forever at "Preparing Windows. Do not shut down" forever.

It is also not possible to add the "Developer Mode" through the optional features settings.


Also tried to stop the update using the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU\UseWUServer and then

net stop bits
>> net stop cryptsvc
>> net start wuauserv
>> net stop bits
>> net stop cryptsvc


only brings - "Windows Update konnte nicht beendet werden"

Stuck to "searching for developer mode package".

Please note that it usually depends on the internet speed as when you choose
Developer Mode, the features are downloaded. If the internet speed is slow it may take a while to download and you will the dots circling.



If it is still stuck on 'searching for developer mode package', then I would suggest you to

create a new user account and enabling the developer mode in that account as there is a possibility that some of the user account components are corrupted. I would also suggest
you to check for any pending updates.

• Allow all trusted apps to install

stuck installing developer mode package

My apologies I meant to post a reply earlier. I got this issue resolved with a Microsoft technician. The solution was to upgrade the system to the latest Windows 10 build. To answer your question though I was referring to the developer mode listed in the
for developers tab in update and security settings. Just search "for developers" in the start menu and it's the first result. It would hang trying to install the package needed to enable that mode. (the circle of would just keep spinning forever)

I was surprised when I googled before making the question all I could find were solutions to fix error codes which didn't apply to me because I never got an error code. If anyone else runs into this issue check that you have the latest Windows 10 build.
