    Try a USB 2.0 flash drive if you're using a USB 3.0 flash drive. For whatever reasons, BIOS flashing sometimes won't work from a USB 3.0 flash drive, but will work fine from USB 2.0 -- even if plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Go figure!
