Dell Announces OptiPlex 980 Desktop PCs

Dell announced today its most powerful business desktop yet, the new OptiPlex 980, combines superb management and an environmentally friendly design. The new OptiPlex 980 can deliver up to 35 percent greater performance than previous generation OptiPlex systems. The desktop can also lower energy costs with an energy-efficient design and environment-conscious features. New management features to enhance productivity include, virtual remote control capability with an optional Intel KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) and simplified task management with Dell's Update Catalog for Microsoft Systems Center.





Other features making the OptiPlex 980 an ultimate commercial desktop computing experience include:

• Desktop Performance -- With Intel Core processor technology (Core i5 or Core i7) options and Solid State Drive options for increased performance and reliability.
• Outstanding Energy Efficiency -- With a 90 percent energy efficient power supply, the OptiPlex 980 can use less energy, helping to lower energy costs.

Dell announced today at Dell World the most significant refresh to its OptiPlex commercial PC portfolio in five years, the Wyse 5050 AIO zero client for VMware, and new cloud multifunction printers to meet the changing needs of the future workforce. Considering the needs of a tech-savvy workforce always on the go, these new offerings are designed to increase employee productivity by helping them seamlessly connect to the business critical data and applications they need to get the job done. In addition, Dell Services is investing more in mobility applications and strategies to strengthen the way its commercial customers stay mobile, productive and efficient.

Dell today announced the highly adaptable OptiPlex XE desktop PC for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and retail environments. Designed to withstand challenging conditions such as high heat, dust and 24x7 operations, the OptiPlex XE delivers on Dell’s commitment to purpose-built solutions more directly connected with customer needs. The system is easily placed within medical carts, video rental kiosks, retail point-of-sale (POS) solutions and other custom deployments that require easy remote management and long-term system stability options.







Additional product highlights include:

• Heat tolerance up to 55° C (131° F) with optional ducting kit and a ‘mount virtually anywhere’ capability, ideal for enclosed spaces while standard port covers offer basic dust protection and an optional dust filter is designed to help reduce system downtime normally associated with dust removal;
