Windows 10: Direct Draw

Hi,


I am trying to play this game that I downloaded but everytime i open it, this alert comes up,


"InitDirectDraw, pSPrimary CreateSurface - Unable to create an DirectDraw Surface. Game shutting down - DDERR_NODIRECTDRAWHW - A hardware only DirectDraw object creation was attempted bu the driver did not support any hardware"


And then the game crashes. What should I do?


I'm using Windows 10 x64 and I checked DirectX and it said it was version 12. I'm not sure how to fix it but i really want to play this game. Its from 2001 so maybe its too old? It is on steam though

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check:

• 
  Press Windows + R keys together.
  
• 
  Type dxdiag in the run prompt and hit enter.
  
• 
  Now check for the version of Direct x.

How do I change scroll direction of a mouse NOT listed under Mice?

Thanks; yes, those are great directions and did work to change the direction of the wired mouse that came with the computer. But the mouse I'm using doesn't show up as a mouse in the hardware list, so I can't follow the rest of those steps. I need the mouse to appear on the list of mice in order to complete this sequence.
