Windows 10: Disable hot swap for internal HD's ?

Two windows 10 pc's both upgraded from win 7. One only shows the expected USB eject option when memory keys are inserted, the other also shows the two internal hard drives in the list !?

No policy options available in the hard drive or controller options beyond the basic write cache. Nothing in the bios of the problem PC.

Is there no simple tick box to stop these drives being in the eject list ??. I've seen registry hacks but most seem to need a startup script, there must be a simpler option !

When playing games the hot keys are active

I suggest you to follow the steps below to disable Hot Keys and check if that helps.

  Right click anywhere on your desktop screen and select Graphics Options.
  
• 
  Navigate to Hot Keys and then click on Disable.
  
• 
  Check if issue persists.

internal hard drives showing as external removable devices

Tried checking write caching in device manager, it was enabled
looked in bios for hot swap or hot plug setting, it was disabled
I also installed all the drivers from the motherboard driver disk to see if there were drivers for the sata controller that would fix the issue, no luck there either.
