  1. Disabling the ROG key on ASUS laptop keyboard

Hello all. I hope you're having a lovely day. I have a problem with my laptop keyboard which neither Google searches nor ASUS customer support were able to resolve. I'm typing with an external keyboard right now, which points to the fact that it's not a software issue, though I was able to temporarily (~48 hrs) solve the issue by un- and reinstalling my keyboard drivers. I also did a couple of hard resets which I think didn't do anything. Around 80% of the time when I press any of the following keys, the key as well as the symbol / is triggered: /afjlkd6 (That's /afjlk;d6 on an English keyboard.) So I will e.g. type a and get a/ instead. When I press /, I never get an additional /, however. Additionally, around 15% of the time when I press ANY of those keys, ALL of them are triggered in the order they appear above. Whatever key I pressed is the one that appears first, after which all of the others follow. So when I press a, I get a/fjlkd6; when I press d, I get d/fjlk6. After a bit of experimenting, I figured out that all of this is probably caused via the ROG key. This is a special key that is next to the / key on keyboards of the ROG series of ASUS gaming laptops. You can see it in the first five seconds of this video: How to re-bind the ASUS RoG Game Key to "End" - YouTube When I push this key, it opens the ROG gaming center (which is its dedicated function) and inputs a / (which it is NOT supposed to do) and sometimes the full /afjlkd6 sequence of symbols. Any of the keys included in this sequence also trigger the ROG key. So what I think is happening is that those keys trigger the ROG key, which in turn triggers the / key and sometimes all of the others. Therefore, I would like to disable that key. I tried a neat little program called KeyTweak, which lets you very easily disable keys on your keyboard, but it can't disable keys which aren't found on a regular keyboard (such as the ROG key). So, my question: How can I disable this key? I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks and much love, noodl

    :)

  2. Disabling laptop keyboard

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

As per the description. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if that helps:

    • Press Windows + X and select
      Device Manager
      from the list.
    • Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it.
    • Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable. If there is no Disable option listed, click
      Uninstall.
    • Click File>Exit. Your laptop’s internal keyboard should now be disabled.
Note: If you had to choose Uninstall instead of Disable in step 4, the keyboard will be automatically detected and re-installed if you ever have the Device Manager scan for new hardware for some reason. If that happens you’ll need to repeat this procedure
in order to uninstall it again.

Hope the information helps. Please let us know if the issue persist and we will be happy to assist you further.

I suggest you follow the steps below and check if that helps:

    1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the list.

    2. Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it.

3.Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable.

    5. Click on Yes in the resulting dialog box to confirm the action and disable the laptop’s built-in keyboard.

    6. If you don’t see a Disable option in the resulting context menu, you will see an Uninstall option, and you can click on that to uninstall the drivers for the built-in keyboard instead of simply disabling it.

    Take Note:

Windows 10 might automatically update the drivers after detecting the keyboard. If that happens, you will have to make your way back to the Device Manager and uninstall the drivers for the laptop’s built-in keyboard once again.

  4. Disabling the ROG key on ASUS laptop keyboard

    ASUS laptop keyboard's skips keys

I have an ASUS laptop running Windows 10. Sometimes, when I use the keyboard, some keys are skipped (with a frequency of about 1 key per word). Sometimes it just works perfectly, so I think it is not a wear problem. Same happens with the touchpad (both
when moving the cursor and when clicking). I already tried to reinstall ATK package and ASUS Smart Gesture package (as suggested by ASUS), but this did not solve the problem. Resource monitor does not seem to show any strange resource usage. How can i identify
    the problem?
