  1. Disabling Windows Defender By (Almost) Any Means Necessary

I just want to disable windows defender. No registry editing or group policy editing have worked for me in the last year, and I'm tired of trying old tricks. I just don't want to see the damned thing in my task manager anymore destroying my memory usage and I'm willing to nearly brick my PC at this point to be rid of it. Not sure what has happened to computer freedom and please excuse the conspiracy theorist in me believing its some form of spyware but it's insane to me that disabling it isn't as easy as clicking "disable". I'll even use sketchy third party software at this point or do anything short of slamming my laptop against the wall just to not have my measly 8GB of ram devoured by this process. Also I'm sorry if there is a million threads already open all this but I'm pretty sure Microsoft has buried them because all I ever come across is people saying to edit policies and such. Thanks, in advance.

TL;DR I want to disable windows defender and all subsequent processes by any means necessary other than possibly taking a hammer to my laptop. (With lack of options I might consider this.)

  2. How to disable windows defender for long time?

    Hi Andrew,

If I understand you correctly you are willing to disable Windows Defender from your system. I would like to know few more things to understand the issue in a better way.

    • Why are you trying to disable Windows Defender? Are you planning to install any third party security software?
    • From where you have followed the steps to disable Windows defender using registry?
    • Are you logged in as Administrator?

The steps which you have mentioned to disable Windows Defender using gpedit.msc is correct. If you are unable to disable it then you may do that by stopping the service responsible for Windows Defender. Here are steps which you may follow to perform the
    same task.

    • Press Windows key + R to open run box.
    • Type services.msc and hit enter.
    • There should be 2 services: Windows Defender Service
      and Windows Defender Network14.
    • Right click on each and press stop.

If you will stop the service responsible for Windows Defender then it will not run till it is stopped. Do get back to us with all the information required and result of proposed suggestion. We will be happy to assist you further.

    Regards,

    Dear ramesh,

I too agree with Farah in that the options to start, stop Windows Defender are not clickable. There should be a way to stop the WD
