    Disc driver not detecting disc


    Hi there. I recently reset a pc that has been collecting dust for a few months. After setting everything up: internet, malware protection, etc. I have been trying to insert a game that is a disc, specifically Microsoft Flight Simulator X FSX and my computer does not know it is in the disc drive. Nothing pops up after inserting the disc. I open files under 'This PC' and the drive is not detecting any disc. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive under properties, but even that did work. All I want to do is install this Simulator and it is very frustrating. The disc works on other computers, so the disc is fine. Please help.

    Disc for windows 7 to run on windows 10

    Hi Jane,

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps to read the Windows 7 disc and check if it helps.

    • Insert Windows 7 disc.
    • Press “Windows+E” which will open file explorer.
    • There you will find the Windows 7 disc.
    • Open the disc and copy the files anywhere on your computer, so that you can access the information from the disc.

    To assist you better, kindly provide us more details by answering the following questions:

    • Are you referring to an external disc drive that is connected via Bluetooth?
    • What is the make and model of your disc drive?
    • Is the disc drive detected under Device Manager?
    • Has the disc drive ever in Windows 10 ever worked before?
