  1. Disconnect/Separate MS Office 365 Time zone from Local Windows Time zone

    Hi,

I live in IST and work in PST in a BYOD setup.

I want my MS Office 365, particularly Outlook Calendar and MS Teams, to work in PST, but my laptop to work in IST.

Basically, what I need is that while my laptop's regional setting is set to India - my work location is set to Los Angeles.

When I glance at my Windows clock at the taskbar - I need to be able to see IST and hovering mouse over it to show the second time zone does not cut it for me. Every single app on my laptop needs to follow IST - EXCEPT MS OFFICE which exclusively needs to follow PST.

For Instance, I use WhatsApp Web on my browser extensively to stay connected with my friends without even touching my phone - and I need to see IST time stamps on messages rather than PST. But because the browser is dependent on the system time - it starts to show me PST time stamps - which is ridiculous. If I change my region to India - my Outlook calendar starts to show me all meetings in IST - which again does not make any sense because then I have trouble coordinating with my colleagues in LA. The show-second-time-zone in Outlook also does not work for me because the calendar is oriented to IST. As a result, it starts to show the first half of my day under 'today' and then I have to look at tomorrow for the second half of my day. The meetings also get split into two.

So basically, what I am asking is - how to change the timezone of only MS Office 365

How do I configure that? There has to be a better way to keep my sanity in a world where everyone is working remotely.

    Thanks.

    :)

  2. Time Zones

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem, it would be helpful if you could reply to these questions to assist you further.

    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Since when are you facing this issue?

Time Zone will not change automatically while you travel. If you want to change the Time Zone for your computer, you will have to change manually.

Only the live tiles like Weather, News, and Sports have the ability to change with the location.

    • Go to control panel.
    • Click on "Clock, Language, and Region
    • Under "Date and Time", click on "Change the Time Zone"
    • Under "Time Zone" click on "Change time zone
    • Under "Time Zone, click the current time zone, and select your actual time zone
      • Click OK and you are done.

Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.

    Thank you.

  3. Time zone is all messed up

I am located in Europe and all I know is that during the Win10 install it does not have the option to select a Time zone. The default time zone is Pacific Time which is -9 hours behind my time zone.

So for example, when installing Win10 locally here on a Friday February 19 on 1700 my time zone shows from the Original Install Date of February 20 02:00 from running the Systeminfo command.

How can I resolve this issue next time I install Win10 to show my local time zone from the Systeminfo command?

What steps do I need to do?

Disconnect/Separate MS Office 365 Time zone from Local Windows Time zone

Unable to change the time zone in Windows 10

I'm running Windows 10 Pro. My time zone is Jerusalem, but I need to change it to Eastern to test a program I'm working on.

The time zone won't change. I have tried:

    • From the clock/calendar, when I change it - it changes back.
    • From Control Panel - Date and Time, "Change time zone..." - when I click save I get the message "Error occurred - your changes could not be saved."
    • As the Built-in Administrator from the command line using tzutil - I get the message "Insufficient privileges to set the current time zone."

The registry key TimeZoneInformation has Full Control for Administrators

Administrators are listed in the Local Security Setting "Change the Time Zone"

    Any suggestions?
