  1. Disk 100% problem

Hi, I have a older computer, when I open task Manager it said that the Disk is at 100% (Disk 100%). I went ahead and googled what could be the problem. On this website https://www.cleverfiles.com/howto/100-disk-usage-windows-10.html , it advised me to update my windows (which I did). It then proceeded as the next step said to state that a " known bug in windows 8 & 10 can cause a search loop that can be the cause of your high disk usage".

I disabled it and I no longer have "Disk 100%" it stays below 50%. It suggested to make this change permanent. Will I have any issues by permanently disabling Windows search? Would I want to make this permanent or look for an alternative?

My computer specs: Alienware x51 r2 with a "Intel® Core™ i5-4430 (Quad Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.2 GHz w/ Turbo Boost)." Its a older computer but the only thing I use it for is to play WOW Classic which is a very old game.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time.

Clean install, disk usage at 100%

I've seen that article. and I am in fact not running that driver. I followed the steps and it does not appear in the list.

    Disk 100% problem

    Disk is always at 100%

    Hi Richard,

Some bugs or disk drive errors may cause high disk utilization. If your task manager shows 100% disk utilization, you may need to optimize Windows by following these troubleshooting methods:

    Disable Windows Search

Some bug in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 causes some "search loop" that causes maximum utilization of your disk. To disable
Windows Search, kindly follow these steps:

    • Press Windows + R to open Run.
    • Type services.msc and press Enter.
    • Scroll down to find Windows Search, right-click it, and select
      Properties.
    • Change the Startup type to Disabled and save the changes.

    Disable Superfetch Service

Superfetch service has been identified as a possible cause of 100% disk utilization on Windows 10. To disable Superfetch service, kindly follow these steps:

    • Press Windows + X and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type net.exe stop superfetch and press Enter.
    • Wait for a minute for the changes to apply and close the Command Prompt.

Let us know how things goes.

    Regards.
