Windows 10: Disk Cleanup issue

Hello wise redditors,

I reinstalled my Windows 10 and just finished installing all the usual stuff (Directx, etc) on it.

Then i tried to cleanup the old installation files using Disk Cleanup but when i open it as Administrator, it does not appear. The task manager shows 'Disc space cleanup manager for windows' though.

I end the process and open Disk Cleanup again but NOT as administrator and it opens. I click OK to clean drive C and it opens the new box where i have to select the options i want cleaned. But it is not showing the old windows installation files (i think i need to open it as administrator for that).

But i cant open as administrator. Its just not showing up.

Please help.

2. Which version of Windows are you currently using?

Hi joysoder, to properly and safely delete any files not required by your system, run Disk Cleanup twice as explained below. Each time select everything in the list and delete them. Disk Cleanup will not suggest deleting anything that is not safe to delete

Open File Explorer

Click on your hard drive

On the Manage Tab, click Cleanup

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

Start Disk Cleanup again

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

This time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

Rest assured, it is totally safe to delete everything suggested by the Disk Cleanup Process, please tun the Disk Cleanup twice as explained below, please remember to untick your Downloads folder if you actually store files in that folder . . .
