Windows 10: Disk running 98 - 100 percent continuously

Since the latest update this week, I have 2 computers that are running 98% to 100% disk usage continuously and the computers have slowed down so much they are almost unusable.


Have tried restarting twice with both computers but to no avail.


One can see if a virus scan is being run by McAfee and this is not occurring. However, I disabled McAfee in case it was doing something in the background but that made no difference so I don't believe it is associated with McAfee.


All other applications have been closed and it is still show 98% to 100% disk usage.


Going through all of the tasks in task manager there are only a few items with 0.1 to 0.2MB working and it all appears normal except for 98% to 100% at the top of the dialog. See Screen Shot below.


How do we report this to Microsoft other than a post here? Moderators please move the post to the correct area if I have the wrong place.


Please don't tell me to reinstall windows because I believe that Microsoft have caused this problems with the latest update and they should fix it. It should not have occurred with 2 computers if not caused by the Microsoft update.

100 percent disk use freequently

I am experiencing 100 percent disk usage frequently. Even a file copying takes 100% disk!.

The main processes which use 100 percent disk are:

1. windows explorer (During file copying)

2. System (occasionally)

3. Soft think agent (Frequently)

4. Mcafee scanner service (During startup)

5. service host: local system- network restricted (Frequently)

and some other services rarely. Is there any solution for these problems?

I tried high performance mode. nothing changed. I think windows 10 is a less optimized OS.

These all processes together makes me mad.

 

100 percent disk usage

often my new laptop freezes because of 100 percent disk usage and even the transfer rate within local hard disk is significantly low when compared to other i7 processors. i am not sure whether it is because of the windows 10 os or some other problem. can
anyone help me to figure out what the exact solution for this problem.

Hi ..

Disk showing 100% and slowing down my system everytime . I have tried some of the fixes posted in google but nothing worked so far.

tried almost everything suggested in - Windows 10 100% disk usage in Task Manager [SOLVED] - Driver Easy

Task manager indicate some times single windows update , some times
single system windows process takes almost 98% of disk .

I killed all background processes once and it seems resolved for a while but its resurfacing.

Please help me to resolve this .
