Windows 10: Display colors are suddenly very bright after installing May 2019 Update

So I recently installed the new May 2019 Update for Windows 10. And after I shut down my PC last night and open it this morning I notice that the colors of my display are suddenly very bright. They were normal just last night.


I tried changing the contrast of my Intel HD Graphics control panel since there was nothing changed in the Windows Settings app, and the colors were still bright.


I even noticed that the Windows Security app said that "Tampering is turned off" and that I was vulnerable, even though everything was turned on just last night.


I have no idea what's happening and I believe it has something to do with this update or that I was compromised overnight, I don't know.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the Display drivers and check
if it helps you.

Refer: Uninstall, Reinstall or
update the graphics card drivers

If that doesn't help uninstall and reinstall latest graphic driver from manufacturer's website.

Note: Update all the drivers and also install all the pending updates and check.

Step 2: After installing and Updating refer the below steps to check how to automatically adjust the brightness.

• Press Windows + I keys and select System.
• Select Display and check the Adjust brightness automatically
• Restart the machine.

Select Start , choose Settings , then select System > Display. Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness

Some PCs can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions. To find out if your PC supports this, in Display settings, under Brightness and color, look for the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes
check box, and then select it to use this feature. This automatic setting helps make sure your screen is readable wherever you go. Even if you use it, you can still move the Change brightness slider to fine-tune the brightness level.

note:

You might not see the Change brightness slider on desktop PCs that have an external monitor. To change the brightness on an external monitor, use the buttons on it.

If you don't have a desktop PC and the slider doesn't appear or work, try updating the display driver. In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results. In Device Manager, select Display adapters,
then select the display adapter. Press and hold (or right-click) the display adapter name, then select Update driver and follow the instructions.
