Windows 10: Display date in taskbar WITHOUT making the taskbar bigger.

I have seen this question asked before and repeatedly given responses that do not address the actual question.


I want to display the date in the taskbar without adjusting the height of the taskbar to make it appear.


There is plenty of room to do this, there are nearly 12 inches of empty space in the taskbar on my 1920 x 1080 monitor when using small icons in the taskbar. I just bought a brand new HP computer running Windows 10, with the most up to date version (1803), which I literally installed today (September 25, 2018).

How to make Taskbar Icons Bigger?


One solution to this is if you use StartIsBack++ if you tick the box "Use larger taskbar icons" in appearance and you are sure you dont have the box "Use small taskbar buttons" in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties you would get bigger icons.

It all depends on your resolution. So if you go into Settings > System > Display you can use the slider under "Change the size of the text, apps, and other items:" [from 100% - 175%] then you can adjust it to where ever you feel comfortable.

 

Display Date in Taskbar


I know that the date normally doesn't display in your Taskbar when you have a Taskbar pin to the right or left of your screen (best place to put it for doesn't eat up vertical screen space on wide screens). I know that you can get it to display by widening your Taskbar but again that defeats the purpose of putting your Taskbar on the right or left. I modified the format of the date by using the control panel so the date was displayed as d/m to make it narrower. That worked but it still only displays if I widen the Taskbar. Since the date is now narrower than the time I don't understand why it won't display in the narrow Taskbar? Has anybody else seen this problem and come up with a way to solve it?

To assist you better, you might have opted to have the small buttons on the taskbar from its properties. If you uncheck the option to have small buttons on the taskbar, then that would increase the taskbar size and will display the date with the time on the
notification area on the taskbar.

You may follow these steps:

• Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties.
• On the Taskbar tab, uncheck the option “Use small Taskbar
  buttons”.
• Click on Apply and then OK.
• Now check if that display the date with the time on the notification area.
